Healing in a Safe Space starts here!

I'm Humaira Naushad, a licensed psychotherapist offering online therapy to students, working professionals, and first-generation adults across New York. My clients often come to me when life feels heavier than they can carry alone — navigating anxiety, past trauma, relationship patterns, career pressure, or the quiet weight of cultural and religious expectations.
As a South Asian and Muslim therapist, I understand the complexity of growing up between two worlds. You shouldn't have to explain or translate your family dynamics, or leave your faith at the door to get meaningful support. My approach is integrative, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic work, and EMDR — tailored to your goals, your pace, and who you are.

Starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking — especially if no one in your family has done it before. My goal is to make our work together feel steady and collaborative from day one.
In our first session, we'll take time to understand your story: what's bringing you in, what you've already tried, and what you want your life to look like on the other side of this. From there, we build a plan that fits you — not a one-size-fits-all formula. Some clients come in to manage anxiety and leave with a stronger sense of self. Others process deep trauma through EMDR. Many simply want a space where their identity, faith, and family context are genuinely understood.
Whatever brings you here, you'll leave our sessions with more self-awareness, practical coping tools, and a clearer path forward.

A Therapist Who Gets It

A Therapist Who Gets It

Finding the right therapist is hard. Finding one who understands your cultural background, your faith, and the unspoken weight of being "the first" — to go to college, to move out, to speak up, to seek help — can feel almost impossible. I became a therapist to be that person for the clients I wished I'd had access to growing up. If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you.

There are many reasons why people choose to have therapy. It may be due to psychological issues or problems with anxiety or depression. It may also be in response to unexpected life changes and transitions.  Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges.  Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in understanding who they are by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change.
My practice is only virtual at this time. Clients find it helpful as they are able to connect and have a session in the privacy of their home.
As a client, all information you share about yourself will be kept confidential. Only with your written permission will information be released to anyone outside of therapy except as required by law. Legal exceptions include the following:
-clear and imminent danger to you or someone else
-reasonable suspicion that a child or elder is currently being neglected or abused
-if mandated by a court order
- if there is a report of abuse by another registered health professional
I'm in-network with: United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Aetna, UMR, Harvard Pilgrim, and Empire BlueCross BlueShield. I also accept Optum Live & Work Well (EAP). If you'd like to use out-of-network benefits, I'll help you through that process. Limited sliding-scale slots are available based on need.
Individual rates start at $170 per session. I offer a limited number of appointments at a reduced, sliding-scale rate. My sliding scale is based on financial need and availability.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cannot appear for an appointment due to illness or another unforeseen issue please let me know ahead of time. If cancellations are made within the 24 hour timeframe, your full fee for the missed session will be charged. Exceptions are made if it is an emergency.
